Exclusive: Spurs and Newcastle Ready to Test Juventus’ Resolve Over Jonathan David as “Not-for-Sale” Stance Holds Firm
Canadian forward Jonathan David is a hot topic in the January transfer window, with Premier League clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle vying for his services. Juventus, however, is standing firm, refusing to sell. Financial barriers and strategic importance make a mid-season move unlikely, with David likely to stay in Turin unless an irresistible offer is made.

The Canadian international and prolific goal-getter Jonathan David has officially emerged as one of the most high-profile sagas of the January transfer window.
Currently monitored by a quartet of Premier League outfits, namely Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and West Ham United.
The 26-year-old forward has expressed a clear desire to eventually test himself in the English top flight. However, his current status as a key pillar in the Juventus project adds a layer of immense complexity to any potential mid-season move.
The Turin Stance: Juventus Hold All the Cards
Despite the growing noise from England, the position coming out of Turin is one of absolute defiance.
Juventus are reportedly not considering a sale in the winter window, viewing David as a fundamental part of their long-term tactical blueprint.
Having invested significant effort into integrating the Canadian star into the squad, the "Old Lady" is currently not entertaining any bids.
Internal sources suggest that the club has no intention of sitting at the negotiating table, maintaining a strict "not-for-sale" stance that is designed to ward off potential suitors.
Spurs and Newcastle Lead the Interest
In the United Kingdom, the interest remains persistent despite Juventus’ refusal to engage.
Tottenham and Newcastle United are leading the chase, with both clubs reportedly prepared to test Juve’s resolve with substantial inquiries. Spurs view David as the ideal elite-level competitor for their front line, while Newcastle see him as a transformative signing for their European ambitions.
Meanwhile, Wolves and West Ham continue to monitor the situation from a distance, hoping for a change in the Italian club’s posture as the deadline approaches.
Brighton were heavily linked with a summer move for the Canadian striker, but he ultimately opted to join the Italian giants, Juventus, instead.
Financial Barriers and Strategic Importance
The financial logistics of a potential deal are nearly prohibitive. Given Juventus’ firm position, only a "staggering" offer far beyond David's market valuation would even be acknowledged by the board.
Furthermore, the Premier League recruitment teams must navigate strict Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), making a mega-bid even more difficult to structure mid-season. For Juventus, the sporting cost of losing David in January, with no immediate elite replacement available, far outweighs the financial gain, reinforcing their decision to keep the forward in Italy.
Ultimately, David’s immediate future seems firmly rooted in Turin. While the lure of the Premier League is undeniable for the player, Juventus’ refusal to sanction a departure makes a January exit highly unlikely.
Unless a Premier League giant presents an offer that is "impossible to refuse," David is expected to remain a vital part of the Bianconeri attack.
