Liam Rosenior is urging Chelsea to resurrect their interest in Marcos Senesi, who looks set to follow Andoni Iraola out of The Vitality Stadium this summer, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

SportsBoom understands the beleaguered Blues' head coach, who is already coming under serious pressure after only three months after arriving at Stamford Bridge, wants the West London club’s hierarchy to swoop for the Argentine in order to address the lack of experience within their squad.

Chelsea have previously monitored Senesi’s situation, before deciding to pursue alternative options.

Although Rosenior acknowledges his employers are likely to remain focused on their policy of recruiting potential rather than proven talent, he hopes the fact the 28-year-old will be available on a free transfer will persuade them to temporarily abandon that stance and approach the central defender’s representatives about the possibility of brokering a deal.

Senesi Eyeing Up Big Move

With Iraola announcing he is set to leave The Cherries at the end of the present campaign, Rosenior hopes the uncertainty surrounding The Blues’ Premier League rivals will cement Senesi’s determination to seek a move elsewhere having so far shown little inclination to extend his contract on the south coast.

However, with a number of European sides also interested in acquiring the former Feyenoord defender’s services, time is of the essence.

Despite being open to the idea of continuing his career abroad, Senesi is settled in English football and understands its vagaries inside out having spent the past four years at Bournemouth and making over 120 appearances across four domestic campaigns.

The knowledge he has acquired since leaving Holland, where he headed after progressing through San Lorenzo’s youth system, would prove beneficial at Chelsea where performances and recent results have exposed the inherent weaknesses in the owner’s recruitment strategy.

Iraola looks set to return to Athletic Bilbao, the side he represented on over 500 occasions as a player before entering management following a brief spell with New York City.
