Wicket keeper batsman KL Rahul was the star of the show when these teams clashed at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, three weeks ago.
Chasing down a target of 164 for victory, KL Rahul carried his bat over the finishing line, scoring 93 not out from 53 balls at a strike rate of 175.47.
Delhi Capitals’ spinners Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav economically bowled their eight over spell for just 35 runs, dismantling the top and middle order with four wickets in the process.
Phil Salt now donning the colours of Royal Challengers Bengaluru was the top scorer for Delhi Capitals when RCB last made the trip to the Arun Jaitley Stadium scoring 87 runs from 45 balls.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won five of the previous seven games against Delhi Capitals, however, DC head coach Hemang Badani will be desperate to clean the slate in his first season in charge.
Aiming for back-to-back wins over RCB for the first time since 2020, Badani’s charges have been weakened by the injury to top order batsman Faf du Plessis but continue putting their faith into KL Rahul and the young Jake Fraser-McGurk.
Speaking about the underperforming Fraser-McGurk, head coach Badani claimed, “He is someone who gives us massive starts, and someone who is a match winner. This year hasn’t been his best, compared to last year. But he is likely to be a player who can come good for us at any given time.”
“Five wins in six games give us the cushion to have someone like him in the XI. If he fires, it is happy days for us.” Badani stated.
Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower and captain Rajat Patidar seek to remedy their odd predicament of being winless from their first five home matches, yet claiming three wins on their travels.
We have all the ingredients for a thrilling game of cricket between two highly talented teams at the top of the IPL table, in search of qualification to the 2025 playoffs.

- Kuldeep Yadav: Leading the way for most wickets, Yadav have been in exceptional form for Delhi Capitals this season. His style of bowling is very difficult to face on sub-continent surfaces or to punish for boundaries, usually being both economical and a wicket taker.
- Tristan Stubbs: The South African powerhouse showed his metal under pressure, calmly carrying his team over the finish line during the Super Over victory over Rajasthan Royals. One of the most exciting players during the end of an innings, making him a fan favourite across India.
ROYAL CHALLENGERS BENGALURU: CURRENT SQUAD
KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH
- Virat Kohli: Playing without the responsibility of being captain, Kohli is thriving with more than 300 runs from his first eight IPL matches this season. Scoring four 50s in the process, Kohli is still the premium batsman with current captain Rajat Patidar being the only other player to reach 200 runs for RCB in 2025.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar: The veteran seamer has bowled the most dot balls amongst all the RCB bowlers and is key to building pressure at the beginning of the innings with his disciplined lines and lengths. Following his first 26 overs in the tournament, 42% of his deliveries have been dot balls.
- Phil Salt: The RCB player who will know the most about this pitch is former Delhi Capitals star Phil Salt. The aggressive top order batsman provides the perfect foil for Kohli, who is not regularly a risk taker, renown for scoring more fours than sixes.
