Despite the move occurring a few weeks ago, the Dallas Mavericks are still adjusting to life post-Luka Doncic after trading their best player to the Los Angeles Lakers. The organization are the ninth seed in the West, placed right in the middle of the tail end of the final playoff places. The franchise recently lost to the Lakers too, to add insult to injury.
After making an impressive debut with the Mavericks after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers in part of the Doncic trade deal, Anthony Davis picked up an injury in his first game with the franchise. He will be re-evaluated just days after this encounter, but the Mavericks fans will look forward to seeing him play. He averaged 26 points and 16 rebounds before his abrupt end in the game.
Despite his absence, Kyrie Irving is the vocal point within the squad. Having played 47 games, he has stepped up since he is the sole standout shooter in the team, averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds.

The Sacramento Kings are one place behind the Dallas Mavericks in the West. The Kings have nearly the same record both at home and on the road but have one more win in front of the Sacramento faithful. The organization are an outsider for the playoffs but could sneak into the play-in positions, especially after the trade deals made at the start of February.
Firstly, De’Aaron Fox departed for the San Antonio Spurs and the Kings head office acquired Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls. The 29-year-old shooting guard is averaging 23.8 points for the season and is posting similar numbers to what he did at the Bulls this season, leaving an immediate impression within the roster. He has played only eight games so far, but it takes time to engrain into a new culture.
On the other side of the court, don’t forget Sacramento has Domantas Sabonis, who is taking his game to a whole new level this year in defense. He is averaging 20 points per game, his second highest in an NBA season, but also a career-best 14.5 rebounds per game. His rebounding places him as the best in the NBA as the power forward is everywhere on the court, posting 6.3 assists too.
