BELGIUM: CURRENT FORM – WDWLL

Following the sacking of Roberto Martinez, then Domenico Tedesco, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) named Rudi Garcia as the new Red Devils manager. Garcia suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Ukraine before bouncing back strongly at the Cegeka Arena in Genk with a resounding 3-0 victory.

Turning attention to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, Belgium had to settle for a share of the spoils after Maxim De Cuyper’s first-half strike was cancelled out by North Macedonia’s Ezgjan Alioski in the final five minutes of an enthralling clash.
Belgium got back to winning ways, claiming maximum points in a seven-goal thriller against Wales. The Red Devils flexed their muscles in Brussels, gaining a three-goal advantage within the first 30 minutes at Stade Roi Baudouin.

Although a strong second-half showing by the Welsh, displaying their resilience with three second-half goals, had the game precariously balanced at 3-3. Romelu Lukaku came to the rescue once again by registering his 89th goal for Belgium, now finding himself 11 goals away from becoming the first player to score 100 goals for the Red Devils.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • Kevin De Bruyne: The influential playmaker is renowned for his unmatched vision, pinpoint passes and tactical intelligence. De Bruyne orchestrates play from midfield with effortless precision. He consistently unlocks defences, dictates the tempo of games, and delivers game-changing moments, which make him a vital asset for his country and his new club Napoli.
  • Jeremy Doku: An explosive, two-footed winger known for excellent dribbling combined with rapid acceleration and his creative unpredictability. Thriving in one-on-one duels against fullbacks, Doku breaks lines with progressive carries, destabilising defences with his sharp movement. His flair, vision and intelligence in the final third make him a dynamic attacking threat.
  • Leandro Trossard: The Arsenal forward combines technical finesse with a sharp eye for goal. Trossard excels in tight spaces, using quick touches to change direction, making clever late runs into the box to find himself in excellent goal-scoring positions. Calm and composed finisher with both feet.

BELGIUM TEAM NEWS

The long-term thigh injury to Belgium’s all-time top goalscorer Romelu Lukaku left manager Rudi Garcia stating, “We’ll have to qualify for the World Cup without Lukaku”. Further adding, “We have to show that we can score goals even without Romelu.”
To fill the massive void left by Lukaku, the Red Devils recalled Michy Batshuayi, while Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere and RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda could possibly spearhead the attack.

In defence, Fulham’s Timothy Castagne returns to the squad, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also making a comeback after missing the clashes against North Macedonia and Wales through injury.

KAZAKHSTAN: CURRENT FORM – LLWLW

Kazakhstan suffered a 3-1 defeat away to Wales in their first 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, as former captain Askhat Tagybergen (now retired) scored a consolation goal for the Hawks from the penalty spot.

Sitting deep in their own half, forced to play large periods of the match with only 30% ball possession, Kazakhstan got to enjoy more of the ball in their next encounter.

The Hawks turned the tables around against Liechtenstein, enjoying 70% ball possession with two first-half goals courtesy of striker Maksim Samorodov and central defender Aleksandr Marochkin, sealing a valuable victory for the Hawks.

Kazakhstan were then humbled during an international friendly with Belarus, losing 4-1, prior to their third UEFA European Qualifying match in Group J. Being narrowly edged (0-1) on home soil against North Macedonia.

Each performance has added to Kazakhstan’s learning curve, and now they face their toughest assignment yet, an away trip to face heavyweights Belgium.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH:

  • Maksim Samorodov: The Akhmat Grozny forward known for his intelligent movement, clinical finishing and composure in the box. Quick and technically gifted, Samorodov often drifts into pockets of space to exploit defensive gaps.
  • Dastan Satpaev: Set to join Premier League giants Chelsea in 2026, upon turning 18, Satpaev is a dynamic, forward-thinking footballer currently plying his trade at Kairat Almaty. The 17-year-old is seen as a long-term prospect who will possibly begin this match on the bench.
  • Ramazan Orazov: Known for his ball retention, vision and tactical awareness. Orazov is very comfortable operating in tight spaces, linking defence and attack with his tidy passing range. Orazov’s calm presence and work rate are required with huge shoes to fill, left in Kazakhstan’s midfield by retired captain Askhat Tagybergen.

KAZAKHSTAN TEAM NEWS

Kazakhstani head coach Ali Aliev will be without the services of Askhat Tagybergen, who recently retired following the loss to North Macedonia. In the attack, Glasgow Rangers striker Bojan Miovski will be missing due to injury.

  2. Over 2.5 Goals - Yes: The last two games between these nations on Belgian soil have seen at least three goals scored on each occasion. Follow the trend. (65/100 with Betway) (64/100 with Pinnacle) (65/100 with 888Starz)

  3. Double Chance and Overs/Unders (Total 2.5) – Belgium/Draw & Over 2.5: Another fair suggestion, with decent odds to take advantage of. (77/100 with Betway) (75/100 with Pinnacle) (78/100 with 888Starz)

VALUE BETS

  1. Belgium Win To Nil – Yes: It will be difficult for Kazakhstan to unlock Belgium’s defence, taking the home team to win with a clean sheet makes perfect sense. (86/100 with Betway) (87/100 with Pinnacle) (85/100 with 888Starz)

  2. Anytime Goalscorer: Kevin De Bruyne: With the veteran midfielder in fine form for Napoli, tasked with taking penalties and free kicks, this option is one of the best bets for this weekend. (90/100 with Betway) (91/100 with Pinnacle) (91/100 with 888Starz)

  3. Belgium Corner Range – +7: The likes of Jeremy Doku and Malick Fofana are expected to provide consistent waves of direct attacks into the Kazakhstan box. Expect seven corners for the home team easily. (108/100 with Betway) (110/100 with Pinnacle) (109/100 with 888Starz)

PREDICTION: BELGIUM TO WIN

On paper, this is a very one-sided contest with very little or realistically no chance for the visitors to leave Belgium with any points. The Red Devils have to make do with their secondary striker options in the absence of main man Romelu Lukaku, recovering from a thigh injury.

Although Belgium have enough firepower to turn this match into a thrashing and easily put five goals past the Kazakhstan goalkeeper. Expect a high-scoring affair with Belgium coming out on top.
