Hull City are looking to hijack Stoke City’s move to sign French ace Lamine Cisse, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The Potters are believed to have had a £1million bid rejected for the highly-rated 22-year-old winger.
But our sources have learnt that the Tigers are also interested in trying to sign the former France Under-21 international from French side Bastia.
It is understood Bastia want £1.5million for the right winger who has already caught the eye of a number of European clubs, as well as Ligue 1 clubs in his native country.
Potters boss Mark Robins is understood to be a big admirer of the Creteil-born creative force, who has represented his country at Under-21, U19 and U16 level before establishing himself as a regular in the Bastia first team.
Last season Cisse played 31 games for the Ligue 2 side and is considered to be a real star for the future.
And the Tigers have also expressed their desire to sign the attacker before the new Championship campaign gets under next month.
UNDER CONTRACT
Cisse is under contract until June 2027 but it is understood Bastia would consider selling him if the price is right.
And now both the Potters and Tigers look set to battle it for the winger’s signature as they continue to look to strengthen during the summer transfer window.
Last season Cisse scored 11 goals and contributed five assists, evidence of his potential.
Potters’ boss Robins has already swooped to sign four new players ahead of the new campaign.
Experienced left-back Aaron Cresswell joined the club on a free having been released by West Ham, while Columbian centre-back Maksym Taloverov has been brought in from Plymouth Argyle to bolster the Potters’ defence.
Winger Sorba Thomas has been signed from League One Huddersfield Town, with Manchester City striker Divin Mubama recruited on loan.
The Tigers have also signed four new players with midfielders Gustav Puerta and Reda Laalaoui having joined the club, whilst goalkeepers Dillon Phillips and centre-back Semi Ajayi having both been signed on free transfers respectively.
