Monaco winger Krepin Diatta is eyeing a move to the Premier League, SportsBoom sources can reveal.

The highly-rated 26-year-old Senegal international is out of contract this summer and is ready for a fresh challenge.

And SportsBoom understands that a number of Premier League clubs have been monitoring the player’s progress, especially if they can sign him on a free transfer in the off-season.

Diatta has played alongside Senegal and former Liverpool ace Sadio Mane for a number of years and has always had a burning desire to play in the English top-flight.

He has impressed for Monaco this season in the French Ligue 1, but his current deal expires next month.

The former Sarpsborg 08 and Club Brugge playmaker has enjoyed five seasons with Monaco, but this season has found opportunities hard to come by.

He has only played 14 league games compared to 26 last season and 31 appearances the previous season.

In all he has played 115 games for Monaco, with 91 of them having coming in the league.

CONTRACT EXPIRY

He has not scored a goal for two seasons and it is believed Monaco are happy to run down the player’s contract as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

Monaco are third in Ligue 1 after a decent season, but the club are a staggering 20 points behind champions Paris St Germain with two league fixtures remaining.

But they are one point adrift of second-placed Marseille and next season are looking to sign reinforcements, with Diatta set to be surplus to requirements.

SportsBoom understands a reduced contract might be offered, but that the player is keen to challenge himself in a different league – and the bright lights of the Premier League hopefully beckon.

Diatta has Champions League experience having played for Monaco in the competition for Monaco this season, as well as having been capped 46 times by his country during a productive seven-year spell with the national side.

Having played for Senegal at Under-20 level, Diatta has been a mainstay of the Senegal national team and was selected for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad, although the competition was later postponed.
