Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace have both expressed an interest in signing Serbian international striker Aleksandar Mitrović, SportsBoom sources can reveal.
The 30-year-old striker is understood to be hungry for a return to the Premier League after dazzling for Saudi Premier League side Al-Hilal for the past two seasons.
The former Newcastle United and Fulham hitman has bagged a staggering 68 goals in 79 games.
And it’s little surprise he’s been previously linked with Manchester United, Chelsea, West Ham and Everton, with all four clubs looking to bolster their firepower this summer.
A price tag of between £40-50million has been muted for Mitrovic’s services, with the only stumbling block being that he has one year left on his current contract.
Mitrovic has played six seasons in the Premier League, as well as having helped former club Fulham win promotion to the top-flight on two occasions.
He also helped Newcastle win promotion to the Premier League back in the 2016-2017 season and has enjoyed an impressive international career.
Across 13 years for his country he has scored 59 goals and made 99 appearances.
And, with a celebrated century of international games just around the corner, Mitrovic has expressed his desire to return to England to enjoy at least two more seasons in the Premier League.
TROPHY SUCCESS
Throughout his career the Yugoslavian-born striker has impressed, having won a raft to titles and trophies.
He won the Serbian SuperLiga in 2013, has won the Belgian Pro League and Super Cup respectively, as well as having won the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup and Saudi Super Cup last season with Al-Hilal.
Mitrovic finished top-scorer in the King’s Cup that season, but with a string of Premier League clubs interested in tempting back to the UK, the striker is happy to pursue his options about a possible return.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is a big fan of the player and believes he could make a huge difference in the club’s concerted push to qualify for the Champions League.
And Palace boss Oliver Glasner is also understood to be a huge admirer of Mitrovic, someone with the right experience to help his FA Cup winning side of last season take another big step forward next season.
