AIG Women’s Open 2025 Preview: Odds, Tips, & Predictions

Date: July 31-August 3 Venue: Royal Porthcawl, Wales Defending champion: Lydia Ko Royal Porthcawl will bring the curtain down on a dramatic Major season this week with the AIG Women’s Open. Regularly lauded as one of the UK’s finest courses, Royal Porthcawl, which will stage the AIG Women’s Open for the first time, is a true links test, and it provides sea views from every hole. Following on from her stunning victory on her full professional debut at the Women’s Scottish Open, there will be plenty of eyes fixed on Lottie Woad, who will be eager to keep her momentum. A 144-player field will descend upon Wales for the only UK-based Major of the campaign, this event is bound to create a stir among the finest golf betting sites, who will be readying a raft of markets.

It’s fair to assert Royal Porthcawl has a storied history, and it once famously curbed the pre-eminent Tiger Woods during his teenage days when he thrashed the ball out of bounds on three occasions for the US during a Walker Cup tie.

Playing as a par-72, there are birdie opportunities to be had on the front nine, but the wind could play a big factor.

In terms of key trends, it takes something special to deliver a win on your first visit to the AIG Women’s Open, and experience is crucial.

To drum up interest, we have provided a full golf tournament preview, and we have sourced some odds to support our predictions.

But how are the pre-tournament betting odds shaping up? We’ve headed over to one of our recommended online betting operators to latch onto the outright prices.

Contender News

Having pored over the stats, it’s worth delving more into the recent results and strengths of the key contenders. The AIG Women’s Open, like any other Major, can be unforgiving, and any weaknesses will be exposed at Royal Porthcawl.

While some golf betting sportsbooks will carry a few data points, we have given a broad overview of the contenders who could fare well this week. Reading this could give you a greater chance of executing your golf betting strategies.

Jeeno Thitikul

After a couple of weeks off, Jeeno Thitikul will be refreshed and eager to have a tilt at the AIG Women’s Open. Last time out, Thitikul finished runner-up at the Amundi Evian Championship, and apart from a missed cut at the US Women’s Open, the Thai sensation has usually been in and around the upper echelons of the leaderboard.

Thitikul has been pretty solid from the tee box, but she has also been highly impressive with the putter, ranking first for putts per GIR and second for birdie percentage. She could provide the fireworks this week, and if she hits her stride early on, she could blitz the field.

Lottie Woad

Up until last week, Lottie Woad was a high-flying amateur, finished one shot adrift of a play-off spot at the Amundi Evian Championship, and was studying in Florida.

But after taking her full LPGA Tour card, this has provided lift-off for the English star, who won on her full pro debut at the Women’s Scottish Open. Woad may have the mystery factor, but she isn’t an outlier, as her recent win tallies up with trends about players who have triumphed at the AIG Women’s Open.

Woad is one of these players you just can’t ignore, and she could be a big factor this week.

Minjee Lee

With her impressive scoring of late, Minjee Lee usually attracts plenty of attention from golf bookmakers. Already a Major winner this term at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Lee may not have been in contention at the Women’s Scottish Open (T21), but her results are largely impressive.

A win at Royal Porthcawl could nudge her up the rankings, and there are no obvious chinks in her armour. Having already achieved golfing immortality as an Australian, a victory would tick off another empty area on her CV.

Suggested Bets

Some of the best betting sites for golf will have all bases covered in terms of lines available. We have unlocked some juicy golf betting odds that could be worth checking out.

  1. Lottie Woad to clinch a top-10 finish: Although we overlooked Lottie Woad last week, she’s just too good to ignore at the moment. She has confidence surging through her veins, and her game looks to be tailor-made for Royal Porthcawl. A top 10 finish certainly seems attainable (5/7 with 1xBet).

  2. Minjee Lee to take the lead after Round 1: Minjee Lee has been accustomed to strong starts this season, and in her past few appearances, she hasn’t carded a round higher than 69. In terms of golf betting tips, Lee to be the first-round leader could be worth backing (11/7 with BetWinner).

  3. Jeeno Thitikul Over 4.5 birdies in Round 1: Jeeno Thitikul can flex her muscles at any time, and she could get on the birdie trail given her prowess with the flatstick. Over 4.5 birdies in the first round doesn’t seem overly ambitious (13/8 with N1Bet).

Tournament Prediction

The AIG Women’s Open contains many fascinating angles, and Royal Porthcawl will inevitably provide a stiff test. In terms of golf tournament predictions, Jeeno Thitikul has produced some fabulous results, but this is a tough field underlined with star power, and we wonder whether this will be her time.

Lottie Woad has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence, but repeating her heroics at the Women’s Scottish Open will be a tall order. We are inclined to back Minjee Lee to come to the fore and deliver her second Major this term at the AIG Women’s Open, and she could hold all the answers.
