BMW Championship 2025 Preview: Odds, Tips, & Predictions

Date: August 14-17 Venue: Caves Valley Golf Club, Maryland, USA Defending champion: Keegan Bradley The FedEx Cup playoffs are intensifying, and the second leg takes place this week at the Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland, USA. Following on from an action-packed FedEx St. Jude Championship where Justin Rose clinched his 12th career PGA Tour title, the field this week has been slashed. Those in the top 50 in the FedEx Cup rankings will tee it up, and they have earned exemptions to all the Signature Events in 2026. Given the prestige of the FedEx Cup playoffs, there will be no shortage of online golf betting sites advertising outrights and player props to spark interest. Rose will head into this event full of confidence after prevailing in a tense play-off at TPC Southwind, but Keegan Bradley is the reigning champion.

As a two-time winner, Bradley knows what it takes to get the job done, and Caves Valley could throw up plenty of birdie opportunities.

There are ample drivable par-4 holes on this course that stretches over 7,500 yards. Many of the holes offer a mix of risk and reward, and there could be some low scores posted.

Of course, there are several big names that were eliminated last week, including Jordan Spieth and Wyndham Clark, but with a $20 million prize purse and 2,000 FedEx Cup points in the offing, the stakes will be high.

As per usual, we have underlined our in-depth golf tournament preview with a slate of odds and other insights for you to ponder.

Contender News

A win at this point of the FedEx Cup playoffs could propel some players up the standings. The stats presented only present a snapshot of a player’s performance, but to make more reliable golf tournament predictions, it’s worth analysing the form guide of the key contenders.

Reading this could influence your picks, and ultimately bolster your chances of nailing your golf betting strategies.

Scottie Scheffler

As the world No.1 and top of the FedEx Cup standings, Scottie Scheffler seems to have everything in the palm of his hands. Although his challenge faded at the FedEx St. Jude Championship where he made an untimely bogey at the 15th, his approach stats and putting make for excellent reading.

The American seems to carry this aura of invincibility at times, but he was only T33 at the BMW Championship last year. Scheffler is generally a factor, and no player has won more times than he has (four) this term. Expect him to be in the upper echelons of the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy

With his place at the BMW Championship already assured, Rory McIlroy has had the luxury of taking a few weeks off. In his last outing, the Ulsterman turned in a good performance at the Open Championship, and he often invites plenty of interest from golf betting sportsbooks.

Our main concern at the moment lies with McIlroy’s driving accuracy as he’s down on the field, but he’s been solid with the putter, and he’s got a few wins under his belt this term. T11 at the BMW Championship last term, McIlroy could light things up this week.

Tommy Fleetwood

Despite winning several times on the DP World Tour, a PGA Tour victory remains elusive for Tommy Fleetwood. It looked like it would come on his 162nd appearance at TPC Southwind last weekend, but Fleetwood seized up as the finishing post drew closer.

He is third for SG: Total which is impressive, and Fleetwood is doing all the right things. Whether the door will open up for him this weekend, however, remains to be seen.

Suggested Bets

Player props and other specials always provoke intrigue at sports betting sites. We’ve divulged a few more golf betting odds for the BMW Championship worth locking down.

  1. Rory McIlroy to clinch a top-10 finish: Rory McIlroy usually gets plenty of billing, and he makes for box-office viewing. The Ulsterman is usually in the mix come the latter end of any tournament, and a top-10 finish is one of those golf betting tips you just can’t ignore (5/4 with 1xBet).

  2. Scottie Scheffler Over 3.5 birdies in Round 1: Scottie Scheffler has started strongly in recent weeks, averaging 66 from the past four opening rounds he has played. He rattled home four birdies in the first round at the FedEx St. Jude Championship last week, and Over 3.5 birdies in the opening round at the BMW Championship is worth tapping up (8/5 with Sportsbet.io).

  3. Wire-to-Wire Winner No: Leading from start to finish is notoriously difficult in the FedEx Cup playoffs. Just ask Akshay Bhatia! The wire-to-wire winner market is a popular line posted at sports betting sites, but we think there will be plenty of movement at the top of the leaderboard over the weekend (3/25 with BetWinner).

Tournament Prediction

Judging by the past few editions, the BMW Championship has been fiercely contested, and we don’t expect that to be any different this time. After his heartache at the FedEx St.Jude Championship last weekend, Tommy Fleetwood will feel like he can’t get much closer, but there could be a hangover from his disappointment.

Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, has been imperious across many performance stats, but he was slightly off it in the final round last weekend, so this leads us to Rory McIlroy. Fully recharged after his recent break, McIlroy could take things by the scruff of the neck. Despite his indifferent driving stats, he could weave his magic on the greens, and he’s our pick to triumph this week.
