Nexo Championship 2025 Preview: Odds, Tips, & Predictions

Date: August 7-10 Venue: Trump International Golf Links, Aberdeenshire, Scotland Defending champion: Adrian Otaegui After a two-week break, the DP World Tour resumes normal duties with the Nexo Championship. Previously known as the Scottish Championship, the newly renamed Nexo Championship, which will be contested at Donald Trump’s Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, has been restored to the fold after a five-year exodus. Deemed one of the finest modern golf links in the UK, the Nexo Championship represents an interesting staging post on the DP World Tour as the penultimate event in the ‘Closing Swing’.

Therefore, you can expect several golf betting sportsbooks to be queuing up to offer a range of outrights and other specials to spark interest.

Adrian Otaegui is the reigning champion, although the event, as mentioned, was under a different guise when it was previously hosted at St Andrews.

The Trump International Golf Links course, which plays as a par-72, stretching across 7,439 yards, hosted the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship last week, so this should give an idea of what to expect.

Wispy fescue-covered dunes surround the first hole, which is a par-five, and there are plenty of challenges in store. But who will come out on top? Our full golf tournament preview contains useful nuggets of information, including incisive betting tips to chew over.

Contender News

The golf stats only present one side of the argument, but tournaments aren’t won on paper. To guide our golf tournament predictions, we have assessed the pedigree of the three main contenders, and offer some insights into recent performances.

Judged on our research, you can make some more informed opinions and enhance your chances of executing your golf betting strategies.

Marco Penge

Flying high in fourth spot in the Race to Dubai rankings, Marco Penge has certainly been in the ascendancy. Putting aside his missed cut at the Open Championship, the Englishman has largely been floating in and around the top 20.

At the Genesis Scottish Open, Penge finished T2, and he produced a scintillating final round of 66. His driving stats are average, but if he’s dialled in with his approach play, he could engineer plenty of birdie opportunities.

Penge could find the course tailor-made to his skills, and after capturing a win at the Hainan Classic earlier in the season, you wouldn’t put it past him to add to his tally. He could be in the mix come the weekend.

Connor Syme

A home favourite, there will be plenty of support for Connor Syme, who landed his first DP World Tour title earlier this year at the KLM Open on his 182nd start.

Patience, of course, is a virtue, and Syme is a deep thinker on the course. There are some risk-reward holes this week. While his stats aren’t exactly standout, his stroke average isn’t too shabby.

Syme may not have hit the highs of the KLM Open, but there is no reason to suggest he can’t turn it around if he’s dialled in this week. He could be a dark horse.

Kristoffer Reitan

Often overlooked by many golf bookmakers, Kristoffer Reitan has largely shone this season, and he has the edge over his rivals when it comes to putting.

In recent appearances, he hasn’t got off to the fastest of starts, but he has tended to finish well, carding an average of 68 on the final day of a tournament. Moreover, he hasn’t missed a cut this term, which bodes well.

The Norwegian also gave a good account of himself at the Open Championship, and he could be a feature come the weekend

Suggested Bets

Having given the inside track on the main contenders, it’s only right that we check in one of the top golf betting sites to source some more juicy player specials. We like to unlock golf betting odds that carry a bit of value..

  1. Marco Penge to be the highest-placed Englishman: There is a strong English contingent in the Nexo Championship field, including Jordan Smith, who has fared well recently. However, we think Marco Penge might fend off his compatriots, and in terms of golf betting odds, the top nationality market could be worth exploring (8/5 with BetWinner).

  2. Connor Syme Over 3.5 birdies in Round 1: Judging by his recent performances, Connor Syme has settled in well, averaging around 68 in his opening rounds. We think the flatstick could deliver for him in the opening round, and Over 3.5 birdies appears an attractive proposition (3/4 with Stake).

  3. Kristoffer Reitan to claim a top-10 finish: Since his win at the Soudal Open in May, Kristoffer Reitan’s results have been trending in the right direction. He likes to go about his business quietly, but a top-10 finish could beckon (7/4 with 1xBet).

Tournament Prediction

The Nexo Championship will be a welcome addition to the DP World Tour, but as we don’t have any tangible data trends to go by, this event could be blown wide open.

That said, Kristoffer Reitan has been bundling along nicely, and he looks sharp with his iron play. However, there are plenty of other monster holes where he could be chewed up and spat back out.

The same could be said of Marco Penge, and the Open Championship was a bit of a chastening experience for him. Instead, we’re more inclined on the golf betting tips front to lean towards Syme, who could turn his patchy form around, and he would be a popular winner.
