Moriya Jutanugarn will be the hunted following her stunning triumph last year. Moreover, it ended her six-year wait to lift an LPGA Tour title.
Colombia Edgewater has a storied history, and it will be staging this event for the 37th time. This course, which plays as a par 72, is littered with tricky holes. However, the 12th, a par-5, is the risk/reward hole. A well-positioned drive can open up the possibility of reaching the elevated green in two.
But who will step into the winner’s circle this weekend? As is customary, we have provided a full golf tournament preview complete with stats and betting odds for you to chew on.

Contender News
Having sifted through and divulged a few golf stats for betting, it’s time to share a few thoughts on the form guide and recent performances of some of the key contenders.
It’s also worth shedding some light on how they have fared at the Portland Classic in the past. Tapping into this will bolster your chances of nailing your golf betting strategies.
Angela Yin
After an impressive showing at the Portland Classic where she finished T2, Angela Yin will be hoping to go one better this time around. She demonstrated touches of brilliance around the greens, and her putting was red hot. Two rounds of 66 would suggest as much.
The American has been putting well this term, and she ranked highly in this department. Although her T40 at the AIG Women’s Open would suggest to the contrary, Yin had come off the back of three top-10 finishes in a row.
She will want to up her driving stats, but if she’s dialled in from the first tee shot, then Yin could well be tough to reel in.
Jin Young Ko
While her results have wavered over the past few weeks, including a missed cut at the AIG Women’s Open, Jin Young Ko is still a class act, judged by her impressive driving and greens she’s hit in regulation.
Her credentials at this event are supported by the fact that she decimated the field in 2021 to clinch a four-stroke victory, and she will be eager to rekindle those feelings.
More importantly, she needs to put the slow starts behind her, such as the 74 at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship if she’s going to stand any chance of making a trip to the winner’s circle this weekend.
Moriya Jutanugarn
Arguably a surprise winner last year, Moriya Jutanugarn exhibited her battling qualities as she rallied from a three-stroke deficit going into the final round.
The way she held herself together in the clutch moments was impressive. However, the defending champion has been in woeful form of late. Four missed cuts in succession would suggest that she needs to iron out some flaws in her game.
If she can get things back on track and put the hard work in at the practice range, then you wouldn’t want to discount Jutanugarn.
Suggested Bets
We ought to revisit some more golf bookmakers, and see what other golf betting odds they are advertising for the Portland Classic. This should give you food for thought.
Moriya Jutanugarn to clinch a top-10 finish: While her results indicate her form has been patchy, Moriya Jutanugarn is a steely competitor, and she will be eager to improve her world ranking. Given her course knowledge and past performances, a top-10 finish is certainly attainable (6/5 with Betway).
Angela Yin Over 3.5 birdies in Round 1: Angela Yin has been masterful at times with the flatstick at hand, and that is one of the main strengths of the game. The American could weave some magic in the opening round at the Portland Classic, and in terms of golf betting tips, Over 3.5 birdies in Round 1 seems fair (9/6 with BetWinner).
Portland Classic to be decided by two strokes or more: Although the Portland Classic has been fun to watch, we’ve avoided the drama that comes with a playoff in recent years. The last playoff was staged in 2020, and we like to look for patterns. The margin of victory line is popular at golf betting sportsbooks, and this event could be decided in the regulation 72 holes (8/5 with 1xBet).
Tournament Prediction
The Portland Classic boasts plenty of history and it is a fun stop on the LPGA Tour. Given the stellar field on display, there are plenty of intriguing angles, most notably defending champion Moriya Jutanugarn. However, her string of recent missed cuts doesn’t fill us with confidence.
Jin Young Ko has also struggled for form lately, so she might be worth avoiding. Instead, Angela Yin, who looks to be more assured with her putting and driving, has posted some decent results and was in the mix at the Portland Classic last year. In terms of golf tournament predictions, she’s our pick to triumph.
