Scottie Scheffler remains the man to beat as the reigning champion, although he has some way to go to match Tiger Woods and his record haul of five titles.
Muirfield Village Golf Club is a stunning Jack Nicklaus-designed course, stretching over 7, 500 yards, although the super low scores have slowed down a little over the past couple of years.
There are some decent birdie opportunities to be had, including the par-4 14th which is one of the shortest on the PGA Tour at 360 yards. It is driveable, but the penalties are clear, such as ending up in the water.
Anyway, the Memorial Tournament is the penultimate Signature Event of the 2025 campaign. With a huge prize fund of $20 million in the offing and 700 FedEx Cup points, this is a prestigious competition. As is customary, we’ve provided a full golf tournament preview and shared some golf betting odds to underline our predictions.

Contender News
For all PGA Tour events, we like to dissect the stats, but we also enjoy delving into past performances of the likely contenders.
This is no different for the Memorial Tournament, and we have given some thoughts on the players that could make their mark this week. In turn, this could help shape your golf betting strategies.
Scottie Scheffler
As the World No.1, the pressure always cranks up a few notches on Scottie Scheffler. He relishes being the favourite and he always carries short odds at golf betting sites.
It has been an amazing few weeks for the American, who claimed back-to-back wins at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson and the PGA Championship. While his driving accuracy figure isn’t perhaps as high as he would have hoped, he’s almost unflappable with the flat stick.
At the time of writing, Scheffler had finished no worse than T8 since the end of March, and he has an insatiable appetite for success. You wouldn’t want to rule out another win in 2025 at the Memorial Tournament.
Ludvig Aberg
At times, Ludvig Aberg can be a puzzling case. His talent is undeniable, and there are plenty of golf betting sportsbooks that usually carry attractive odds for him in the outrights.
He will be looking to rediscover the form he showed at the Masters where he finished seventh, and apart from round 2, he was fairly impressive in all facets of his game.
Things have tailed off lately, and he missed the cut at the PGA Championship. That said, Aberg often carries a threat, and he could propel himself up the leaderboard this week.
Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa has gone through the motions this season, but his game appears to be rock-solid, judging by his driving and putting stats.
Sooner rather than later, the results will start to come in, and the American, who was T50 at the PGA Championship will start to believe he can compete at the business end of tournaments.
Things looked promising up until and including the Masters, and he is one of the best iron players in the game. Morikawa is always one of those golfers that comes into our thinking with golf betting tips.
Suggested Bets
We’re always on the hunt for value when it comes to golf tournament predictions. We’ve sourced a few more odds that might be worth adding to your betting slips ahead of the first round of the Memorial Tournament.
Collin Morikawa to finish in the top 10 – Although his strong performance stats haven’t correlated with some big finishes, it was only really the PGA Championship that was the big blemish on his 2025 copybook. Collin Morikawa is a classy operator who can turn things around in a flash, and there is no reason to suggest why he can’t claim a top-10 finish (9/5 with Sportsbet.io).
Scottie Scheffler to be the second-round leader: Scottie Scheffler, as we know, is a great frontrunner, and while he nearly got reeled in at the PGA Championship, he stamped his authority and ended up getting over the winning line comfortably. Scheffler could be the one to chase ahead of moving day on Saturday, so we fancy him to lead the field after the second round (13/4 with N1Bet).
Tournament to be decided in regulation 72 holes: Over the years, the Memorial Tournament hasn’t required extra holes to determine a winner. Last year, Scheffler pipped Morikawa by one stroke to take the title, and in terms of betting tips, there is a decent chance that there won’t be a play-off needed this weekend (11/10 with BetWinner).
Tournament Prediction
As always, the Memorial Tournament makes for fun viewing, and there is plenty on the line. Ludvig Aberg, who is currently ninth in the FedEx Cup rankings, needs to get his driving and putting game into gear, and there aren’t any concrete signs that could happen this weekend.
Collin Morikawa, naturally, will want to make up for last year where he finished second, and although he’s yet to taste success on the PGA Tour this term, he’s not that far away.
However, Scottie Scheffler remains an imposing figure, and it will take something special to knock him off his perch. He’s a great frontrunner, and he strikes fear into the field with his impeccable putting. We wouldn’t be surprised if he claimed another win this season this weekend, so in terms of golf tournament predictions, Scheffler is our pick.
