Contested annually at the Donald Ross-designed course, the Wyndham Championship returns for the 86th edition, and it is the seventh oldest on the PGA circuit.

Among the familiar names in the field are defending champion Aaron Rai, two-time PGA Tour champion Robert MacIntyre, and Scottish Open winner Chris Gotterup.

The wily Scot will no doubt be aware that he missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship last season, so he will be desperate to make amends.

However, he is trending in the right direction, and he could be in the mix come the latter stages of the tournament if he gets off to a quick start.

Matt Fitzpatrick

If we were looking solely at his putting stats, there isn’t much to shout home about Matt Fitzpatrick. That said, the 2022 US Open champion has been clocking up some decent results lately with three top-10 finishes in the past three weeks.

At The Open Championship, although he was very much in the rear view for Scheffler, Fitzpatrick dug in deep, and he came home T4. He has been reliable from the tee and he has been solid with his approach play.

A win seems to be long overdue for Fitzpatrick, and perhaps it could come for him this week.
