Who Holds the Greatest Number of Titles?

Nobody dominates French Open history like Rafael Nadal. The Spainard has claimed an incredible 14 single titles, dominating the clay court from 2005. Through his topspin, footwork and mental toughness, he has made it almost impossible to get past him in these conditions. 

Chris Evert holds the tiara for the women. The American claimed seventh titles between the 70s and 80s with the sort of consistency from legend. The most recent emerging contender for clay dominance is Iga Swiatek. The Pole has won four titles, and she is still in her early twenties! 

Key Players to Watch 

When looking at the men, it is difficult to ignore the prospects of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. These two come into this game as clear favourites, and after Alcaraz claimed the ATP 1000 title in Rome a few days ago, all eyes will be on him in Paris. 

It would be foolish to ignore the prospects of Sinner though. Rome was his return after three months, and the Italian looked to be heading right back to his best tennis. 

Coco Gauff is becoming more and more likely to have a competitive tournament on the ladies' side of the draw though. She comes into the tournament as one of the most in-form players on clay and we expect her to take full advantage of the fact that she is playing incredible tennis at the moment. 

Does Alex Zverev possibly become a player worth considering? His best chances of winning a grand slam are likely at this tournament and while he has had to deal with a few setbacks in Paris before – he has a real chance if he can get past his inconsistency. 

Casper Ruud is another name worth considering, although he has only managed to ensure a positive showing when neither Sinner nor Alcaraz are involved in the tournament – as was the case in Madrid.
