Head-To-Head Record

There are no previous meetings between these two sides.

Real Madrid Current Form – WLWWW

Real Madrid have struggled at times this season to get over the line. They lost the title race to their bitter rivals Barcelona, in addition to losing the Copa del Rey final and the Spanish Super Cup finals to the Catalans.

They will be hoping that the reign of Xabi Alonso, a player who shares such a special history with the club and has already showcased his managerial ability at clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, will be one of great success.

Los Blancos will be expecting to win the game, but they will know that they face a side who will not simply roll over and get beat.

Key Players to Watch

  • Kylian Mbappe: Any side with the French ace in it is a dangerous one. Notwithstanding the fact that he is surrounded by talent, he is an incredibly dangerous player and has the ability to hurt opponents from anywhere on the field.
  • Vinicius Jr: A player who often divides opinion, Vini Jr has consistently showcased his ability and endeared himself to the Madrid faithful with each and every game. His pace, balance and scoring prowess will likely cause Pachuca a world of trouble.
  • Jude Bellingham: The final piece to the Real Madrid attacking trio, Bellingham is as close to the complete player as is available in world football at the moment. His attacking ability is challenged only by what he is able to create defensively and so we suggest keeping an eye on him here.

Real Madrid Team News

Endrick is not expected to feature at this tournament. The Brazilian sustained a hamstring injury at the back-end of the season and is ruled out of further contention.

Pachuca Current Form – LWDLW

Pachuca is likely to come into this game knowing that from all the teams in the group, this is the free hit. The Mexican side had a largely underwhelming domestic season and could only finish eighth in the league. They will know that their lack of attacking threat will largely hurt them here but expect them to tuck in and look to make life as difficult and frustrating as possible for Real Madrid.

Key Players to Watch

  • Sergio Barreto: The defensive player has largely been a stalwart for Pachuca. His aggressive defensive approach and versatility with the ball make him an intriguing player and he will be looked to for defensive solidity against this Madrid side.
  • Mads Bidstrup: Largely seen as the creative source in the middle of the field for Pachuca, he will captain his side and look to move the ball with intent and pace when they find themselves in possession. Keep an eye on him here.
  • Edmund Baidoo: Leading the line for the Mexican side, we don’t expect him to get too many opportunities here, but when they are able to penetrate the final third, all eyes will turn to Baidoo to convert any chances which come his way.

Pachuca Team News

At the time of writing, Pachuca come into the game with a full complement of players available for selection.

Suggested Bets

Be sure to review the betting rules for markets like match result and goal totals, as terms can vary between sportsbooks.

  1. Real Madrid to win: At the risk of sounding a little disrespectful, backing Madrid to win should be the banker for the weekend. It really is as simple as that.  2/11 (1.18) with Betway.

  2. Real Madrid + Over 2.5 Goals: Combine these two betting angles for increased value.. 5/10 (1.5) with Stake

Value Bets

  1. Both Teams to Score: As far as value bets go, backing Madrid to concede a goal offers a lot of value. They have not been the most progressive team when it comes to keeping defensively sound, and given the attacking nature of their opponents, back Both Teams to Score. 21/10 (3.1) with BetWinner

  2. Both Teams to Score + Over 2.5 Goals: Again, back these two betting components for maximum value. 12/10 (2.2) with 1xBet

Prediction: Real Madrid to Win

Nevertheless, Real Madrid is head and shoulders ahead of their opponents here. The class they have in their side is undoubtedly world class and given that they have the players to turn this game on its head in a moment suggests backing Los Blancos to high heaven.
