Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for an offer for Destiny Udogie following Luciano Spalletti’s appointment as Juventus’ new manager, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.
The former Italy, Zenit St Petersburg, Napoli and Roma chief replaced Igor Tudor at the helm of the 36-time Serie A champions earlier this week only four months after parting company with the Azzurri.
Although Spalletti’s contract only runs until the end of the season, he is expected to be given the leeway to reshape his new club’s squad during the January transfer window.
And sources have told SportsBoom that Udogie, who was handed his international debut by the 66-year-old, is one of the players Juventus could look to sign as part of a drive to reignite a campaign which has so far failed to spark.
Although Udogie is not actively looking to leave north London, having moved there from Hellas Verona in 2023, the prospect of working again with Spalletti could prove difficult for the youngster to resist.
Attractive Proposition
Udogie last represented Spurs during this month’s 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road before picking-up an injury while on duty for his country. Expected to return shortly, the defender requires regular first team football in order to cement his place in Italy’s plans.
Spalletti, a confirmed admirer of the youngster, would guarantee him that in Turin and would relish the chance to be able to select a player he has praised on numerous occasions.
Born in Verona, Udogie began his career with his hometown club before heading to England via Udinese. His contract is scheduled to expire in 2027 and, despite Spurs’ strong financial position, they could entertain serious bids in order to create room on their budget for Thomas Frank to draft-in more of his own picks.
Spalletti, who has also taken charge of Internazionale and Sampdoria during a stellar career in the dug-out, is believed to have been told he can recommend a select number of handpicked targets for Juventus to begin chasing over the festive period.
