After a dismal season by his incredibly high standards, Djokovic is searching for form ahead of Roland Garros. He has accepted a wildcard and he’s prioritised match fitness, having only completed two clay court clashes this season.

Early exits at the Monte Carlo Masters and Madrid Open indicate his star may be fading, but the Serbian is still aiming to clinch a historic 100th ATP Tour title after missing out in Miami back in March.

Although Djokovic is the main pulling factor of this tournament, the Geneva Open also contains other top stars, such as Taylor Fritz, the reigning champion Casper Ruud, and Tomas Machac.

This competition will give us an opportunity for players to fine-tune their French Open preparations. To whet your appetite, we have provided tennis betting tips and offered some predictions, so give this preview your full attention.

Pre-Game Odds and Win Probability

To offer useful tennis betting insights, a good starting point is to check out the pre-tournament prices.

We’ve swung by one of the finest online betting sites to assess who is trading as the favourite for the Geneva Open.

  1. Casper Ruud – 4/1 (5.00) – 20%

  2. Novak Djokovic – 15/1 (16.00) – 6.3%

Head-to-Head Record (Casper Ruud vs Novak Djokovic)

We love some great matchups on the ATP Tour, and for this tournament, we’ve shone a light on Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic.

As part of our research into tennis stats for betting, we’ve pulled up the head-to-head record of these two players, detailing the results of their past five meetings.

Last Five Meetings

  1. June 4, 2024: (French Open quarter-final): Casper Ruud beat Novak Djokovic W/O

Players Form

Although it’s great to pit players such as Casper Ruud and Novak Djokovic against each other, it’s worth dissecting the form of the potential contenders leading into the Geneva Open to glean further insights.

Giving this a read could elevate your tennis betting strategies to greater heights.

Casper Ruud

It seemed like Casper Ruud’s best days were behind him. However, the Norwegian, a former French Open finalist, is an excellent clay court exponent, and he has been flying up the rankings recently.

A maiden Masters 1000 title arrived in Madrid earlier this month, and the majority of his triumphs on the ATP Tour have come on clay.

It would be remiss to overlook the fact Ruud is the reigning Geneva Open champion, and he’s a three-time winner of this event, further underlining his credentials. At the time of writing, Ruud had a 21-6 record, which is respectable, and he has tweaked his game to make himself more robust, so pay close attention to him.

Tomas Machac

Currently, a top-20 player, Tomas Machac, has seen his results tail off over the past few weeks, but his victory in Acapulco (ATP 500 tournament) in February was a watershed moment for him.

Recent stats have shown Machac, who reached the Geneva Open final last year, is ranked second in the Under Pressure leaders stats (244.9 rating). He has saved over 58% of break points faced and he’s converted just shy of 45% of his break opportunities, showing he is a cool customer.

Machac is going places, and the Czech ace could be in the mix in Geneva.

Novak Djokovic

Write Novak Djokovic off at your peril! Despite 2025 being a lean year, the former World No.1 and most decorated men’s player in tennis history will be earmarking a record 25th Grand Slam title in Paris.

Although his results have left something to be desired, and he appears to be more flustered or off balance during rallies, he has an insatiable appetite for success. The level of expectation placed on himself is lower, meaning he could be very dangerous. While he won’t be generating short odds at tennis sites for betting, he will want to prove his critics wrong in Geneva, and we can’t wait to see how he gets on.

Previous Geneva Open Winners

We’ve recalled the roll of honour and noted the past five winners of the Geneva Open.

  1. 2024 – Casper Ruud

  2. 2023 – Nicolas Jarry

  3. 2022 – Casper Ruud

  4. 2021 – Casper Ruud

  5. 2020 – Alexander Zverev

Suggested Bets

Tennis betting operators will have a great variety of specials and props ahead of the Geneva Open, and we’ve handpicked a few markets that might be worth exploring further.

  1. Casper Ruud to win the Geneva Open: From what we’ve seen, Casper Ruud has made himself tougher to break down, and the way he thwarted Jack Draper in Madrid was remarkable. He soaked up a lot of pressure, and he is sometimes undervalued. Nevertheless, Ruud will want to add a fourth Geneva Open title to his collection, and this could well be his week (6/1 with N1Bet).

  2. Geneva Open Final to feature at least 1 Tiebreak: Although the last couple editions of this event saw the final decided in two sets, there have been tiebreaks, indicating some clashes have been close. While the 2022 final was a marathon, stretching over three hours, containing two tiebreaks, we think the final could have at least one tiebreak, and this market is worth tapping up (3/2 with 1xBet).

  3. Novak Djokovic to reach at least the quarter-final: While Djokovic is trying to defy time and give his loyal legion of fans something to cheer, it seems the end is drawing nearer. There have been some concerns about Djokovic, but his single-mindedness is remarkable, and he’s still ranked inside the top 10, something he has achieved for well over two decades. He may not land a 100th ATP Tour title this week, but the odds for him to reach at least the quarter-final doesn’t seem unreasonable (5/1 with Betway).

Geneva Open Prediction: Casper Ruud to Win

While the Geneva Open isn’t as heralded as the Hamburg Open, it is still an important warm-up tournament for the French Open. Although Novak Djokovic takes top billing given what he’s achieved, there is no room for sentiment in tennis.

Tomas Machac, of course, will want to go one better than last year when he reached the final, and he could go deep again. However, Casper Ruud seems to be the standout player in this tournament, and that’s not just purely because he’s a three-time champion.

With his depth and variety, Ruud is making headway this year, and we believe his resurgence could continue by lifting the Geneva Open once again.
