It’s fair to assert that Nuno Borges wasn’t on many tennis fans’ radar until last year. However, he has been climbing back up the rankings, and he’s inching closer to the top 30.

A superb win over Rafael Nadal in the Nordea Open final last year made us sit up and take notice, but then again, Nadal had endured a marathon run to the showpiece match, and he was in the swansong of his career.

Borges’ competitive spirit is unyielding, and he will relish the chance to defend his title. Whether he can go all the way this time and add to his trophy haul, though, remains to be seen.
