It is set to be a feisty clash in the capital when the Cottagers travel to the Bridge. The Blues dismantled fellow Londoners West Ham United last time out, while Marco Silva’s claimed a solid point at home to Manchester United.

The points were shared last season, with both teams claiming 2-1 away victories respectively, so expect another tight encounter this campaign when these two clash on Saturday.

Chelsea Current Form

The Blues are coming into the new Premier League season as Club World Cup champions and are looking like a very competitive outfit under Enzo Maresca. Following a 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace, the home side put five past West Ham to claim an emphatic victory ahead of this London derby.

Key Players to Watch

  • Joao Pedro
The Brazilian has slotted into his new side like a glove. He bagged his first goal in the Premier League last week and is a real threat in the final third for the Blues.
  • Pedro Neto
Neto has slowly become one of Chelsea’s most important players in their attack. The Portuguese winger is a delight to watch but a nightmare for defenders with his pace and tricks.
  • Enzo Fernandez
The Argentine looks to be getting better every season with the Blues. He has now even added goals and assists to his game, making him even more valuable to Maresca’s midfield.

Chelsea Team News

Levi Colwill suffered a knee injury and will be a major miss for Maresca’s side, while Benoit Badiashile (Knock) and Romeo Lavia (Muscle) will also miss the tie. Additionally, Cole Palmer has a groin strain but could be fit in time for the visit of the Cottagers.

Fulham Current Form

Silva’s side has started the league with a draw away from home against Brighton and followed it up with a draw to Manchester United. They are still in search of a first victory of the season after two consecutive stalemates.

Key Players to Watch

  • Alex Iwobi
The former Arsenal man has become a talisman at the Cottage and is a key cog in Silva’s side. He offers them goals and creativity from midfield.
  • Calvin Bassey
The Nigerian defender is a rock at the back for Fulham. Bassey can play at centre back and left back, proving his versatility for the London club.
  • Rodrigo Muniz
The Brazilian forward has already opened his account for the season for Silva’s outfit and is a real threat inside the opposition box.

Fulham Team News

Silva looks set to be without Antonee Robinson for the visit to Stamford Bridge. The American was one of the leading assist makers in the league last season and will be a big miss. Bassey is likely to deputise, like he did last week out against Manchester United.

Predicted Line-Up

  1. Chelsea (4-3-3):

Sanchez, Gusto, Chalobah, Adarabioyo, Cucurella, Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Neto, Pedro, Estevao, Delap

  2. Fulham (4-2-3-1):

Leno, Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Castagne, Lukic, Berge, Sessegnon, King, Iwobi, Muniz

Suggested Bets

Given what’s at stake and each team’s recent form, the following football betting picks align with how this match is expected to unfold.

  1. Both Teams to Score (Yes):

Both these fixtures last season saw both teams find the back of the net. (21/25 with Betway)

  2. Over 2.5 Goals:

Last season saw over 2.5 goals in both of the fixtures, so goals are expected at the Bridge. (18/25 with Betway)

Value Bets

Understanding key betting rules can also help ensure clarity when navigating different markets and potential outcomes.

  1. Chelsea to Win and Over 3.5 goals: After a great showing last time out vs West Ham, back the Blues to win and rack up their goal difference in the process. (27/10 with Betway)

  2. Joao Pedro Anytime Goal Scorer: After opening his Premier League account for Chelsea last week, back Pedro to get on the score sheet again on Saturday. (Forecast odds: 3/1)

Prediction: Chelsea to Win and over 2.5 Goals

The Blues look like a serious outfit this campaign, and Maresca has been really impressive as head coach. After failing to win at home on the opening day, expect the Blues to run rampant against Fulham on Saturday. Back Maresca’s side to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored in the tie against a Fulham side who are winless so far.
