Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Preview: Odds, Tips and Prediction

Date: May 25, 2025 Venue: Anfield Kickoff Time: 17:00 Liverpool have been head and shoulders above the rest in the Premier League this season. Arne Slot has come in and taken Liverpool to the next level, which has seen them lift their 20th league title. Slot has joined an elite group of managers to win the Premier League title in their first season, and the Dutchman has done so in fine style. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, overcame hefty odds and upset Manchester City in the FA Cup final, which secured their first-ever major trophy. This victory sees the Eagles qualify for the Europa League, however, there is still one final battle to take care of for Oliver Glasner, and that is a trip to Anfield for the season finale.

Liverpool Current Form – WWWLD

Liverpool have reached new heights since Arne Slot arrived. The change from Jurgen Klopp to Slot has been seamless, however, nobody expected it to happen in this fashion. Credit must be given to Slot for the exceptional job he has done this season and must aim to carry this momentum into the 2025/26 campaign.

Coming into this fixture, Liverpool has maintained their superiority and remained focused on completing the season in hot form. Victories over West Ham, Leicester City, and Tottenham showed just how good they could be, but they were humbled by a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea.

An inspired 2-2 draw at home to Arsenal was the reaction Slot was looking for, followed by another tough outing against Brighton. A sold-out Anfield will expect the Reds to come out guns blazing in the season finale and enjoy a winning send-off ahead of lifting the 2024/25 Premier League trophy.

Key Players To Watch

Mohamed Salah: Salah has been the best player in the Premier League by a landslide. He has featured in every game this season for Liverpool, proving how important he is for his team. The Egyptian has scored 28 goals and provided 18 assists, which will see him end the season with the Golden Boot award. At the age of 32, Salah shows no signs of slowing down and continues to raise the bar as one of the best players in world football.

Luis Díaz: Diaz is known for his tenacity and direct style of play that has seen him become a menace to defenders. He attacks defenders with his speed and skill, taking them on in one-on-one situations where he is able to create scoring opportunities or get in on goal himself. The Colombian has shown great improvement under Slot’s leadership and has registered 13 goals with 5 assists to his name this season.

Cody Gakpo: Gakpo is a unique player who just goes about his business in the right way. Whether he is in the starting lineup or used as a substitute, the Dutchman always delivers for the Reds, which has put his name in the spotlight. His versatility enables Liverpool to deploy different attacking options that have seen them find success. He maintains his composure and is deadly from close range, often finding himself in the right spot and the right time with exceptional finishing ability.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool have been lucky not to have many injuries and will come into this final fixture with a full squad for Slot to choose from, barring Joe Gomez, who is making steady progress from a hamstring injury and will likely be assessed to see his availability for this fixture.

Crystal Palace Current Form – LDDDW

Oliver Glasner has done extremely well since taking charge of Crystal Palace. Despite his calm character, Glasner has been able to get the best out of his players and has transformed Palace into a well-organised, cohesive team that has brought the Eagles major success.

After a poor start to the season, Glasner has lifted Palace into a respectable position. The previous five games have seen them fall to defeat once against Newcastle in a 5-0 hammering, but they picked themselves up and registered three consecutive draws against Bournemouth, Arsenal, and Nottingham Forest.

This was followed by a convincing 2-0 victory against Tottenham, which extended their unbeaten run to four games. Facing Wolves after huge celebrations proved to be challenging, but they will need to stay focused for one last hurdle as they prepare for a visit to Anfield.

Key Players To Watch

Jean-Philippe Mateta: Mateta has had another great season with Palace, as the Frenchman has produced great performances and has become a great target man. Despite his size, Mateta is able to pick up speed when driving forward and exploiting space behind defensive lines, which has made him a difficult striker to contain. He uses his strength to hold off defenders when playing with his back to goal and has proven to be a reliable goal scorer for his team.

Ismaïla Sarr: Sarr is a direct winger who loves to run at defenders. His speed is one of his key attributes that allows him to get in on goal or create scoring opportunities for his teammates. He has added great value to the team and provides an outlet for quick transitions. The Senegalese has featured in every game for Palace, starting in 28 games, scoring seven goals and providing five assists, showcasing his importance to the team.

Eberechi Eze: Eze has grown into an exciting player to watch. His ability to glide with the ball at his feet and go past players with ease makes him a constant threat. This is his best season in terms of goal contributions in the Premier League, with seven goals and eight assists to his name. The confidence and fearlessness he plays with allow him to have a big influence and bring other players into the game, whereby he can initiate attacks and deliver key passes into the final third.

Crystal Palace Team News

Marc Guehi will be assessed for the final game of the season due to an apparent concussion he suffered against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Chadi Riad's first season in London has been marred by injuries, and he's now set for what is likely to be almost a full year on the sidelines.

He suffered a ruptured ACL and isn't expected to be back until some point later in the 2025/26 season. Finally, Cheick Doucoure needed surgery on his knee injury, which will see him return in time for pre-season for the Eagles.

Predicted Line-Ups

  3. 1 Goal Up To 24 min: The atmosphere will likely play a huge role in Liverpool asserting themselves early on, while Palace will look to utilise counterattacking football to get the better of the Reds. Get on at 22/25 (1.88) with BetWinner.

Value Bets

By having the correct knowledge in sports betting strategies and tips, football fans can make educated bets and reduce the bookmaker's edge.

  1. Anytime Goalscorer - Virgil van Dijk: The Dutchman is very effective from set-pieces and often scores when given the space. 13/2 (7.5) with 1Win.

  2. First Half – Both Teams To Score: The first half will be a cagey affair, which will open space for both teams to take advantage of. 29/10 (3.90) with Stake.

  3. Halftime/Fulltime – Draw/Liverpool: It will be evenly matched in the first half, but Liverpool will have the advantage in the second period, as they have players of higher quality who can influence the game in ways that allow them to control proceedings and dictate the tempo game. 17/5 (4.4) with Bettilt.

Prediction: Liverpool to Win

Liverpool are the favourites to win this fixture, especially playing at Anfield. Playing at home gives Liverpool that extra edge and freedom to express themselves, which could put Palace under immense pressure. Knowing that they will lift the trophy will also be another avenue of motivation as they look to give their fans a send-off to remember.
