Newcastle welcome the champions Liverpool to Tyneside in a blockbuster Premier League clash that is set to be an enthralling encounter. The two games between these sides last season produced eight goals between them.

The home side are in search of their first victory of the season after a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on the opening day, while Liverpool thumped Bournemouth at Anfield to start the campaign in fine fashion.

Newcastle United Current Form

Eddie Howe’s side will look to be even better this season, following a campaign that saw them get Champions League football and take major strides as a squad. The opening day result was a hard-fought point at Villa Park and they will want to repeat that performance come Monday night against the Reds.

Key Players to Watch

  • Anthony Gordon: With Alexander Isak’s contract up in the air, Gordon lead the line in the opening game and the pacey forward did a great job in an unfamiliar position. Gordon is a major threat in behind the defence with his well-timed runs.
  • Sandro Tonali: The Italian is an all-action midfielder who is a key cog in Howe’s side. Tonali takes responsibility for his side and will be important to their hopes of a victory against the champions.
  • Bruno Guimaraes: The Brazilian does the dirty work for his side and cleans up ahead of his defenders but he is also very technically gifted and can hurt any opposition with the quality of his passes.

Newcastle United Team News

Fresh off their opening day draw at Aston Villa, the home side will look to secure a first victory in the league on Monday evening. Besides Joe Willock who has a calf strain, Howe will have a fully fit squad to choose from.

Liverpool Current Form

The champions have had a good pre-season and look sharp and ready to defend their Premier League crown. After dispatching Bournemouth on the opening day, it is clear that they look like a real force again this season.

Key Players to watch

  • Mohamed Salah: Salah seems to keep getting better with age. After winning the top scorer and most assists last season, the Egyptian looks like he will be a nightmare to contain again this season.
  • Cody Gakpo: The Dutchman is becoming one of the main men for the Merseyside outfit and already registered a goal on the first matchday against Bournemouth for Slot’s side.
  • Florian Wirtz: The German was brought to Anfield in a big-money move, and there is no denying his quality. His link-up play and creativity will be key in an already fluid Liverpool outfit.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Newcastle United: 4-3-3: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Elanga, Gordon, Barnes

  2. Liverpool (4-3-3): Alisson, Kerkez, van Dijk, Konate, Frimpong, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Wirtz, Gakpo, Salah, Ekitike

Suggested Bets

Reliable sportsbooks can offer solid options for Premier League wagers, and our suggested and value bets highlight selections worth considering this week.

  1. Over 2.5 Goals: As mentioned earlier, there were eight goals in two games between these two sides last campaign so expect goals on Monday night. (11/20 with Betway)

  2. Both Teams to Score (Yes): Backing both teams to find the net is practical here. They both have firepower in attack, and the fixture finished 3-3 last season. (13/25 with Betway)

Value Bets

welcome bonus can give new customers extra value when backing outcomes like the draw or a goalscorer market in this clash.

  1. Draw: With Howe’s side on the hunt for a first league victory and Liverpool’s quality, it is likely they cancel each other out at St. James’ Park. (59/20 with Stake

  2. Mohamed Salah Anytime Goal Scorer: The Egyptian King has already bagged a first Premier League goal of the season as he looks to back up one of his best-ever individual goal scoring campaigns of last season. (Forecast odds: 3/1)

Prediction: Draw and Both Teams to Score

St. James’ Park is a difficult place to go and considering that Howe’s side are pushing for a first league win, expect them to put up a real fight here and get a draw.

Liverpool are always dangerous in front of goal and this fixture saw plenty of goals last season. Back the draw and both teams to score on Monday night. Given the stakes of this match, understanding the key betting rules can help you make more informed decisions when placing your bets.
