The Saints have had a torrid time back in the Premier League and are set to go down with the second-lowest points tally (12) in the history of the competition. The Gunners’ season has been impressive, even though they have slowed down in the league and allowed Liverpool to run away with the league title, there are some positives to take with the Champions League semi-final run.
Tightly contested fixtures like this often come down to fine margins, making it useful to consider how various football betting strategies might influence your approach.

It has been a season to forget back in the Premier League for the Saints. They are winless in their previous five fixtures and only accumulated 12 points in the league all season.

Key Players to Watch

  • Mateus Fernandes
The Portuguese youngster looks like he is a real prospect. The 20-year-old has five goal contributions in 34 appearances in the league this season.
  • Kamaldeen Sulemana
The 23-year-old Ghanaian has become an important figure for the Saints. He has featured 24 times in the Premier League and can play on the wing and lead the line.
  • Kyle Walker-Peters
The former Tottenham Hotspur fullback has been a consistent performer for Southampton this campaign. He has featured in 33 games this season and has two assists to his name.

Southampton Team News

After struggling with many injuries during the season, the Saints have a clean bill of health going into the final couple of games. The only concern is over Walker-Peters, who had an illness, but the fullback should be back for the visit of Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s side has struggled towards the end of the season domestically, and their previous five fixtures are testament to that. The Gunners have won just once, while drawing three times and losing the other game in that period.

Key Players to watch

  • Mikel Merino
The midfielder come striker has had an excellent debut season in North London. Merino’s versatility and football IQ make him one of the standout performers in Arteta’s side.
  • David Raya
The Spanish shot-stopper has been ever reliable between the sticks for Arsenal and has pulled off some vital stops this season for his side.
  • Bukayo Saka
Saka is the Gunners’ main man. Everything flows through him down the right wing, and the Englishman is a nightmare to deal with for opposition defenders.

Arsenal Team News

Gabriel has a hamstring strain. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus both suffered knee injuries and are the long-term absentees. Jorginho has a chest problem. In some good news for Arsenal, Kai Havertz has returned to full training and Declan Rice has shrugged off a minor muscle injury.

Predicted Line-Ups:

  1. Southampton (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale, Manning, Bella-Kotchap, Stephens, Walker-Peters, Ugochukwu, Aribo, Wellington, Fernandes, Gronbaek, Onuachu

  2. Arsenal (4-3-3): Raya, White, Saliba, Kiwior, Lewis-Skelly, Partey, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli, Nwaneri.
