A heavyweight battle between Italy's two biggest clubs is set to erupt after Juventus joined Inter Milan in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, SportsBoom can exclusively reveal.

Inter have long admired the England international and were hoping to push through a deal this summer, but Juventus have now entered the hunt and are ready to rival their Serie A rivals for the 25-year-old's signature.

Liverpool, however, are standing firm. The Reds will not accept anything less than £35million for Jones despite the growing interest from Italy.

The midfielder has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, and Liverpool are keen to cash in rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee further down the line.

New boss Andoni Iraola is also eager to reshape his squad ahead of his first full season in charge and is targeting several additions of his own.

As a result, Jones is believed to be surplus to requirements despite his long association with the club.

ATTRACTIVE OPTION

That has alerted both Inter and now Juventus, who both view the versatile midfielder as an attractive option with plenty of top-level experience still ahead of him.

Jones has enjoyed a trophy-laden career at Anfield since graduating from the club's academy.

Despite still being only 25, he has already won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He was also part of the Liverpool side that reached the Champions League final in 2022, finishing runners-up after an impressive European campaign.

A proud Scouser, Jones came through the youth ranks at Liverpool and represented England at various age-group levels before making his senior breakthrough during the 2019-20 season.

He made six Premier League appearances in that title-winning campaign and has gone on to become an established member of the first-team squad.

Over the past three seasons, he has been a regular presence in Liverpool's midfield, trusted in major domestic and European fixtures.

PEDIGREE

Last season, he made 34 appearances across all competitions, while his overall record stands at 228 games and 22 goals for the Reds.

He has also amassed 153 Premier League appearances during his time at Anfield.

Although Jones has not featured for England since 2025, his pedigree and experience continue to attract interest from across Europe.

Both Juventus and Inter believe he could thrive in Serie A, and the prospect of a bidding war may yet work in Liverpool's favour. Juventus have turned to the English midfielder, having previously been linked with a move for Manchester United's Manuel Ugarte

The Reds know they are unlikely to hand Jones a new long-term contract and are prepared to listen to offers this summer. But they are making one thing abundantly clear to his suitors.

If either of Italy's giants wants to secure his services, they will have to meet Liverpool's £35million asking price.

Inter still feel the more likely destination given their long-standing interest, but Juventus entering the race could quickly tilt this into a bidding war. At £35m, Liverpool are ready to cash in rather than risk the contract running down. Early betting markets may lean towards Inter, but this is very much one to keep an eye on.
