Meanwhile, the Bees are simply buzzing after turning around their early misfortunes to take some of the biggest scalps in the Premier League by beating both Manchester United and Liverpool in convincing fashion.

Oliver Glasner is capable of arresting this worrying slump in form, but his hands seem to be tied with a congested fixture schedule and a lack of squad depth.

On the other hand, Brentford manager Keith Andrews has seemed to have transformed his club’s fortunes without drifting far off the blueprint drawn up together with their former manager Thomas Frank, incorporating some new personnel who have been fantastic additions to the Bees.

CRYSTAL PALACE: CURRENT FORM – LLDLW

Crystal Palace have had their 10-match unbeaten streak (across all competitions) come to a screeching halt, going winless in their last three Premier League games. The fixtures are piling up with manager Oliver Glasner and his men feeling the strain of the congested schedule as the Eagles seek to spread their wings once more, aiming to soar back into top form.

Following last season’s FA Cup glory and opening their 2025/26 campaign by beating Liverpool to the Community Shield, Crystal Palace will be keen to get back to winning ways, so they could be popping champagne corks when May comes around, possibly with a gleaming UEFA Europa League trophy topping off last season’s achievements.

The Eagles dug deep for a share of the spoils away at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in a goalless stalemate on the opening day before their draw with Nottingham Forest (1-1) at Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace claimed maximum points in their victory over Aston Villa (0-3) at Villa Park. Disappointingly, settling for a goalless draw after failing to unlock the stubborn newcomers to the Premier League, Sunderland.

Brilliant performances, beating both West Ham United (1-2) and defending champions Liverpool (2-1), have been overshadowed by a three-game winless spell against Everton (2-1), Bournemouth (3-3), and Arsenal (1-0). Cup competitions are beginning to expose the Eagles’ lack of squad depth.

KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

  • Jean-Philippe Mateta: Getting Crystal Palace’s talisman scoring again is the answer; it’s as simple as that. Mateta combines strength, speed, and sheer determination to win football matches in order to form a complete Premier League striker, ideally built on a solid 192cm frame that is quite literally a weapon up front.
  • Eddie Nketiah: Scoring the winner against Liverpool had a major ripple effect on the Premier League table, with Arsenal benefiting the most thanks to Nketiah. The dynamic striker relentlessly presses from the front, able to score goals and unselfishly turn provider when he sees a teammate in a better position.
  • Yeremy Pino: The 23-year-old Spanish midfielder is slowly integrating himself into the team and a new league, under the tutelage of Oliver Glasner. When Pino begins to settle, he’s going to set the Premier League alight together with left-wing back Tyrick Mitchell. The pair is forming a great understanding on the left flank.

CRYSTAL PALACE TEAM NEWS

Promising young right-back Caleb Kporha (back injury) hasn’t appeared this season, while powerful midfielder Cheick Doucoure (knee injury) is still out of action. Chadi Riad is nursing his anterior cruciate ligament after rupturing it and requiring surgery. The 22-year-old Moroccan center-back will be desperate to regain his fitness before the AFCON and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

BRENTFORD: CURRENT FORM – WWLWL

Brentford manager Keith Andrews has exceeded expectations since taking over the helm from Thomas Frank. After being promoted from his role as set-piece coach, Andrews has done brilliantly with the full backing of owner Matthew Benham.

Despite losing their key attackers Yoane Wissa (Newcastle United) and Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United) during the last transfer window, Andrews has fortified Brentford by showing faith in Kevin Schade, while making solid investments by signing Dango Ouattara (£42.5million) and activating the release clause for Michael Kayode (£42.5million) to bolster his squad.

However, it took only five minutes into Andrews’ first match for the magnitude of the task to set in. Nottingham Forest took the lead from a set-piece that had manager Andrews kicking water bottles on the touchline, cutting a frustrated figure as the Bees left the City Ground empty-handed.

Following their (3-1) defeat in the East Midlands, Brentford returned home to claim maximum points over Aston Villa (1-0), courtesy of new signing Ouattara scoring his first goal for the club since arriving from Bournemouth.

Ouattara came off the bench for a cameo appearance as Brentford dumped his former employers, Bournemouth (0-2), out of the EFL Cup in the second round thanks to goals by Fabio Carvalho and Igor Thiago.

The midweek cup commitments had a negative effect on the Bees when they made the trip to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland, a few days later. Schade had the opportunity to hand Brentford the lead from the penalty spot, although his tame effort was easily saved.

Slick passing and Frank Onyeka’s delightful swerving cross were met by the forehead of striker Igor Thiago to eventually put Brentford ahead. Thiago was visibly relieved after having a goal ruled out by VAR during the first half.

However, criminal defending saw Enzo Le Fee level matters from 12 yards out before Wilson Isidor broke Brentford hearts with his 96th-minute winner as Sunderland (2-1) secured victory.

Brentford were determined to give a better account of themselves in their first match against top-tier opposition when Chelsea traveled to the Brentford Community Stadium. Kevin Schade amends for his penalty miss by putting Brentford ahead with a wonderfully taken strike.

Chelsea were stunned, making two substitutions that paid off instantly as Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo turned the game around with a goal apiece. Kevin Schade stunned Chelsea, giving Brentford the lead in the first half before Cole Palmer came off the bench to make an instant impact. Palmer and Moises Caicedo both scored to turn the game on its head.

Brentford manager Andrews responded with a tactical change of his own as Fabio Carvalho made the difference during his five-minute cameo, scoring the equalizer (2-2) in the 95th minute to steal a share of the spoils.

The Bees edged Aston Villa on penalties in the EFL Cup third round and were made to pay in the Premier League as their poor away form continued with defeat at Fulham (3-1).

Brentford returned to home soil, outclassing Manchester United (3-1) with Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen among the goals. Erling Haaland scored the solitary goal as Brentford were edged out narrowly by Manchester City.

The Bees come into this clash brimming with confidence following successive wins over West Ham United (0-2) and Liverpool (3-2).

Key Players To Watch

  • Igor Thiago: The Brazilian striker is the focal point in attack, a proper threat aerially with his 191cm frame, netting four goals from his last four Premier League appearances. Thiago has scored in three of Brentford’s past four away games in the Premier League.
  • Kevin Schade: The 23-year-old winger is a man for the big occasion, netting goals against Chelsea and Liverpool. Schade is encouraged to take on players with his direct dribbling ability, letting off his shots on goal in a very similar manner to Wissa and Mbeumo in the past.
  • Michael Kayode: Making his loan deal a permanent move from Fiorentina has worked wonders for the 21-year-old. Kayode has incredible speed to burn at either end of the pitch, while his throw-ins have become a devastating weapon that’s often initiated by Jordan Henderson playing a first-time ball into Ouattara to win corners and throw-ins.

BRENTFORD TEAM NEWS

Netherlands’ promising Under-21 prospect Antoni Milambo recently suffered a season-ending ACL injury on international duty, with the highly rated winger requiring surgery. Reiss Nelson returned to the squad against Liverpool, while Brazilian teenage sensation Gustavo Nunes has resumed first-team training.

Meanwhile, industrious midfielder Edmond-Paris Maghoma targets minutes within Brentford’s Under-21 setup in attempts to reach full fitness. Midfielder Yehor Yarmoliuk is expected to recover from the knock that forced him off against Liverpool.

Predicted Line-Ups

  1. Crystal Palace: 3-4-2-1

Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Sarr, Pino; Mateta.

  2. Brentford: 4-2-3-1

Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, van den Berg, Ajer; Henderson, Yarmoyluk; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago.

SUGGESTED BETS

Claim a welcome bonus when signing up, giving your Premier League bankroll a boost for football betting on Crystal Palace and Brentford.

  1. Overs/Unders (Total 3.5)- Under 3.5: Going on seven of the past eight meetings between these sides ending under this score line, this is a solid bet. (40/100 with Betway) (39/100 with Pinnacle) (41/100 with 888Starz)

  2. Brentford - Total Goals (0.5) – Over 0.5: Brentford are in fine form, just requiring one goal for this option to come home with flying colours. (42/100 with Betway) (43/100 with Pinnacle) (41/100 with 888Starz)

  3. Multigoals – 1-3: Seven of the eight Premier League matches between these opponents have been within this range. (54/100 with Betway) (55/100 with Pinnacle) (56/100 with 888Starz)

Value Bets

A cagey and tightly-contested clash is on the cards, so it’s vital to know how different betting markets are settled under the official football betting rules.

  1. Anytime Goalscorer – Jean-Philippe Mateta: The French striker is the favorite to get on the scoresheet. (110/100 with Betway) (112/100 with Pinnacle) (111/100 with 888Starz)

  2. 1st/2nd Half Both Teams To Score: No/Yes: We’re expecting a defensively astute first half, with the match bursting into life during the second half. (260/100 with Betway) (259/100 with Pinnacle) (262/100 with 888 Starz)

  3. Brentford Corners – 7+: The Bees have earned 10 corners in each of their last two away games in the Premier League; it’s clearly a tactic to get Michael Kayode involved with attacking throw-ins into the opposition’s 18-yard area to create chaos. Follow the trend! (321/100 with Betway) (330/100 with Pinnacle) (333/100 with 888Starz)

PREDICTION: DRAW

Crystal Palace seems to have a pattern of enduring a slump in the Premier League, immediately after taking part in other cup competitions. Manager Oliver Glasner will be hoping his main man, striker Jean-Philippe Mateta, can regain his best goal-scoring form to elevate the Eagles back into the top half of the table.

Brentford is on the verge of overtaking Crystal Palace in the standings, boasting a three-game unbeaten streak against perennial European heavyweights Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool. Five of the past eight meetings between these sides have ended in stalemates, suggesting we’re in for a battle instead of pretty football.
