Luke Littler continued his dominance in the Premier League Darts season with a third nightly win in Cardiff, extending his lead at the top of the table to six points.

The reigning world champion delivered another standout performance, defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 in a repeat of the 2025 World Championship final.

The teenage sensation also produced a moment of magic with his first televised nine-darter of the season.

His performance in Cardiff also earned him a place in an exclusive club. Thanks to principal sponsors BetMGM, Littler now has his own set of bespoke 18-karat gold darts, worth around £30,000, which will sit proudly in his trophy cabinet. He follows in the footsteps of Luke Humphries and Rob Cross, who both received their golden darts in Brighton two weeks ago.

Littler had predicted his moment was coming, telling SportsBoom in Brighton: “It’s not if, it’s when,” after watching Humphries and Cross secure their sets. Now, after lighting up the stage with his nine-darter, he has his own to celebrate.

    Record Breaking Prize Money

Away from the action on the oche, the major talking point in darts this week has been the PDC World Championship prize money. Ahead of the night’s play in Cardiff, world number one Luke Humphries revealed in an interview with talkSPORT that the prize for winning the sport’s biggest tournament is set to rise to £1 million.

This development aligns with PDC chairman Eddie Hearn’s long-term ambition to push the World Championship winner’s cheque into seven figures, marking a significant moment in the sport’s history.

Littler, who claimed the world title at Alexandra Palace in January, admitted he had not received any official confirmation from the PDC but believes the increase is almost inevitable.

“I've not been told anything,” Littler told SportsBoom.com.

“But obviously it's been going around for many years. It's been £500,000 for the past however many years, but I think that's the next big step for us players.”

When asked how much of a statement the increase would make for darts, the Warrington star added:

“It would be, yeah. Obviously, whoever wins it, they'll obviously go straight to number one. So, if it’s this year or if it’s next year, I do feel 99.9% sure it’ll happen.”

With Littler continuing to set the standard in the Premier League, securing another nightly win, hitting a nine-darter, and now joining the elite golden darts club, the future of darts is looking brighter than ever—both on and off the stage.
